Dry Shatavari Root is the dried tuberous root of Asparagus racemosus, one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda. Shatavari is traditionally known as a rasayana for women's wellness, and its dried roots are the raw material for Shatavari powder, capsules, granules and extracts.

Arizone International supplies Dry Shatavari Root to herbal, Ayurvedic, food and nutraceutical manufacturers, traders, private label brands and bulk buyers. Grade, cut size, cleaning level, packaging and quantity can all be set to your specification.

What Is

Asparagus racemosus is a climbing plant with fine, needle-like leaves that grows across India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Its underground roots form clusters of long, finger-like tubers. After harvest, the roots are washed, peeled, often boiled briefly, and dried until hard and creamy white.

Shatavari roots contain steroidal saponins called shatavarins, along with mucilage and other compounds. Good-quality roots are thick, clean and pale, with little discolouration.

After harvest, the material is dried in the sun or shade, then cleaned to remove stones, dust, stems and other foreign matter, and sorted by size and quality. It can be supplied whole, cut into smaller pieces for tea and extraction, or milled into coarse or fine powder. For food and ready-to-use products, steam sterilisation can be arranged to bring microbial counts within export limits.

Tips for Buyers and Formulators

Peeled, thick, cream-coloured roots give the best powder, so specify the grade you need.

Shatavari roots absorb moisture and can develop mould, so pack them in lined bags and store them dry.

Shatavari powder is often supplied at 60 to 80 mesh for capsules and churnas, while granules and kalpas use a coarser grind mixed with sugar or jaggery. We can mill the dried roots to your mesh size and pack them in food-grade lined bags with a desiccant.
