Bibhitaki Fruit is the dried fruit of Terminalia bellirica, known in Hindi as Baheda. It is one of the three fruits of Triphala, the most famous Ayurvedic formula, and the whole dried fruit is the raw material for Baheda powder, Triphala and extracts.

Arizone International supplies Bibhitaki Fruit to herbal, Ayurvedic, food and nutraceutical manufacturers, traders, private label brands and bulk buyers. Grade, cut size, cleaning level, packaging and quantity can all be set to your specification.

What Is

Terminalia bellirica is a large deciduous tree found in the forests of India, Sri Lanka and South-East Asia. It produces round, grey-brown fruits with a hard stone inside. The fruits are collected when they fall, dried in the sun and cleaned.

The fruit rind contains tannins such as gallic acid, ellagic acid and chebulagic acid. Bibhitaki is traditionally used for digestive and respiratory wellness, and it is combined with Amla and Haritaki in equal parts to make Triphala.

After harvest, the material is dried in the sun or shade, then cleaned to remove stones, dust, stems and other foreign matter, and sorted by size and quality. It can be supplied whole, cut into smaller pieces for tea and extraction, or milled into coarse or fine powder. For food and ready-to-use products, steam sterilisation can be arranged to bring microbial counts within export limits.

Tips for Buyers and Formulators

Ask for deseeded fruit if you are making powder, as the hard stones add weight but little value.

Check for insect damage and mould, as dried fruits stored in humid conditions can be affected.

For Triphala, many manufacturers buy Bibhitaki, Amla and Haritaki from the same supplier so that the three fruits are graded and dried to the same standard. We can supply all three together and mill them into Triphala powder in your chosen ratio, packed in lined bags or drums.
