Honeysuckle Oil captures the sweet, honeyed, nectar-like and fresh floral scent of honeysuckle flowers (Lonicera species). Because honeysuckle yields almost no essential oil by distillation, most honeysuckle oil is a fragrance oil that recreates the scent, while a rare absolute is produced in very small amounts. It is used in perfumes, cosmetics, soaps, candles and home fragrance.
Arizone International supplies Honeysuckle fragrance oil, and rare absolute on request, for perfumers, cosmetic and soap manufacturers, candle makers and home fragrance brands.
About Honeysuckle
Honeysuckle is a climbing shrub found in Europe, Asia and North America. The most fragrant species include Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) and European honeysuckle (Lonicera periclymenum). The tube-shaped flowers, white or cream turning yellow, release their strongest fragrance in the evening to attract moths. The name comes from the sweet nectar that children traditionally suck from the flowers. In the Himalayan regions of India, several Lonicera species grow wild.
Japanese honeysuckle flower (jin yin hua) is also an important herb in traditional Chinese medicine, used in herbal teas and preparations.
Why Honeysuckle Is a Fragrance Oil
Like gardenia, lilac and lily of the valley, honeysuckle is a "mute" flower in perfumery. Its scent is too delicate and its oil yield too low for commercial distillation. Honeysuckle absolute can be made by solvent extraction, but only in tiny quantities. Perfumers therefore build honeysuckle accords from aroma materials that match its sweet, fresh and nectar-like character.
