Helichrysum Oil
Part of our Oils range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Helichrysum Oil, also known as Immortelle or Everlasting Oil, is a precious essential oil steam distilled from the flowering tops of Helichrysum italicum, a small, silvery shrub of the Mediterranean. It has a warm, honeyed, herbaceous and slightly curry-like scent and is highly prized in premium skin care, aromatherapy and fine perfumery.
Arizone International supplies Helichrysum Oil for skin care brands, aromatherapy companies, perfumers and private label businesses.
About Immortelle
Helichrysum italicum grows on dry, sunny, rocky hillsides around the Mediterranean, particularly in Corsica, the Balkans (Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia), Italy and Spain. Its bright yellow, button-like flowers keep their colour and shape long after picking, which is why it is called "immortelle" or "everlasting". The plant has a curry-like smell on warm days, which gives it the common name "curry plant", although it is not used in curry.
Corsican helichrysum oil is considered one of the finest and most expensive, while Balkan oils are more widely available. The oil yield is low, which keeps prices high.
Aroma and Composition
- Neryl AcetateOften the main ester, especially in Corsican oils, giving a sweet, fruity note.
- Italidiones (Beta-Diketones)Characteristic compounds of Helichrysum italicum, studied for their skin-related properties.
- Gamma-Curcumene and Alpha-PineneContributing to the warm, spicy and fresh character.
The composition varies by origin and subspecies, so buyers should request a GC report.
Applications
- Premium face serums, oils and anti-ageing creams
- Skin care for mature, dry or sensitive-looking skin
- Aromatherapy and massage blends
- Fine perfumery, adding a warm, honeyed, tobacco-like note
- Natural perfumes and botanical products
Research Interest
Helichrysum italicum oil and extracts have been studied in laboratory settings for antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity, and the oil is popular in aromatherapy for skin care. These are research findings and traditional uses, not approved medical claims.
Safety and Dilution
Helichrysum Oil is generally regarded as mild, but it should always be diluted before skin use. People allergic to the daisy family (Asteraceae) may react. A patch test is recommended. Not for internal use. Keep out of reach of children. Use within IFRA standards and local regulations.
Quality and Authenticity
Because helichrysum oil is expensive, it is sometimes adulterated with cheaper oils or other Helichrysum species. We supply authentic Helichrysum italicum oil with GC reports, and we can offer specific origins such as Balkan or Corsican on request.

Tips for Buyers and Formulators
