Gardenia Oil captures the rich, creamy, sweet and heady white-floral scent of the gardenia flower (Gardenia jasminoides). Because gardenia yields almost no oil by normal methods, most gardenia oil sold today is a fragrance oil that recreates the flower's scent. A true gardenia absolute exists but is very rare and costly. Gardenia oil is used in perfumes, attars, cosmetics, soaps, candles and home fragrance.
Arizone International supplies Gardenia fragrance oil, and rare gardenia absolute on request, for perfumers, attar makers, cosmetic brands and home fragrance companies.
About Gardenia
Gardenia jasminoides is an evergreen shrub native to southern China, Japan and Southeast Asia. It has glossy dark green leaves and large, waxy white flowers with a famously intoxicating scent. In India, gardenia is grown in gardens and is sometimes called gandharaj, meaning "king of fragrance", especially in Bengal. Gardenia fruit is also used in China and Japan as a natural yellow food colouring.
Why Gardenia Is Mostly a Fragrance Oil
Gardenia flowers are delicate, and their scent is difficult to capture. In the past, small amounts of gardenia were produced by enfleurage, a slow process of absorbing the scent into fat. Modern gardenia absolute, made by solvent extraction, is produced only in tiny quantities, mainly in Tahiti and some parts of Asia. As a result, perfumers usually recreate gardenia using a combination of natural oils and aroma materials that match its creamy, green and slightly mushroom-like floral notes.

Gardenia Oil must be diluted before skin use. It may contain allergens that must be declared on labels in some markets. IFRA certificates, allergen declarations and SDS are available. Keep away from eyes and out of reach of children. Not for internal use.
