Euphorbia Oil
Part of our Oils range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Euphorbia Oil is a botanical oil obtained from plants of the Euphorbia genus, a very large and varied group of plants commonly called spurges. The most important commercial product is Euphorbia lathyris seed oil, a fixed oil pressed from the seeds of the caper spurge, which is studied as an industrial and bio-based oil. Euphorbia extracts and waxes are also used in cosmetics.
Arizone International supplies Euphorbia Oil and related Euphorbia-derived ingredients for industrial users, researchers and cosmetic manufacturers, with full safety documentation.
About the Euphorbia Family
The Euphorbia genus contains more than 2,000 species, from small garden weeds to large, cactus-like succulents. In India, familiar species include Euphorbia tirucalli (milk bush or sehund), Euphorbia neriifolia (thuhar), used as hedges, and Euphorbia hirta (dudhi), a common medicinal herb. Most Euphorbia plants produce a white, milky latex that can be highly irritating.
Main Euphorbia Products
- Euphorbia Lathyris Seed OilA fixed oil rich in oleic acid, studied as a raw material for biodiesel, lubricants and oleochemicals.
- Candelilla WaxA plant wax obtained from Euphorbia antisyphilitica (and related species) in Mexico and Texas. It is widely used in lip balms, lipsticks and cosmetics as a vegan alternative to beeswax.
- Euphorbia ExtractsSuch as Euphorbia cerifera and Euphorbia hirta extracts, used in some cosmetic formulations.

Traditional Use
Several Euphorbia species have a place in Ayurvedic and folk traditions. Euphorbia hirta, for example, has been used traditionally for respiratory and digestive complaints, and Euphorbia tirucalli latex has been studied as a possible "petroleum plant" for fuel. These traditional and research uses are not approved health claims.
Applications
- Industrial oleochemicals, lubricants and bio-based fuels research (seed oil)
- Lip balms, lipsticks and cosmetics (candelilla wax)
- Skin care formulations, in approved extract forms
- Research and development
Important Safety Note
The latex of many Euphorbia plants is a strong irritant and can cause severe skin inflammation and serious eye injury, and some species are toxic if swallowed. Euphorbia lathyris seeds are poisonous and the crude seed oil is not for food or cosmetic use. Some Euphorbia-derived materials are restricted in cosmetics in certain markets. Only refined, tested and approved Euphorbia ingredients should be used in consumer products, and always according to local regulations. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling raw materials and keep out of reach of children.
