Zedoaria Oil is a warm, spicy, woody and slightly camphoraceous essential oil steam distilled from the rhizomes of Curcuma zedoaria, known in India as kachur or white turmeric. It is a relative of turmeric and ginger and is used in perfumery, flavours, Ayurvedic preparations and traditional products.
Arizone International supplies Zedoaria Oil for perfumers, flavour houses and Ayurvedic and herbal product manufacturers.
About Zedoary (Kachur)
Curcuma zedoaria is a perennial herb of the ginger family native to India and Indonesia. It is grown in Kerala, Karnataka, West Bengal, the north-eastern states and other parts of India, as well as in Sri Lanka, Thailand, China and Japan. Its rhizomes look like turmeric on the outside but are pale yellow to white inside, with an aroma that is a mix of ginger, camphor and mango. In India, zedoary is called kachur or kachoor and is used in Ayurveda, in some pickles and in traditional cosmetic powders.
Zedoary was widely used as a spice in medieval Europe, but it was later largely replaced by ginger. In Indonesia, it is used in jamu herbal drinks.

Traditional Use and Research
In Ayurveda, kachur has been used traditionally to support digestion and respiratory comfort, and in skin care. Laboratory studies have looked at zedoary compounds for various properties. These are traditional uses and research topics, not approved health claims.
Safety and Dilution
Zedoaria Oil should always be diluted before skin use. A patch test is recommended. It is not recommended during pregnancy, and people taking blood-thinning medicines should seek advice. Because of its 1,8-cineole and camphor content, it should not be used on or near the face of young children. Not for internal use except as a regulated flavour. Keep out of reach of children. Use within IFRA standards and local regulations.
Blending Tips
Zedoaria blends well with ginger, turmeric, cardamom, black pepper, cedarwood, sandalwood, orange and lemongrass.
