Folic Acid Tablets are vitamin supplements that provide folic acid, the synthetic form of folate (vitamin B9). Formulation Notes
Folic acid is used in microgram amounts, commonly 400 mcg to 800 mcg per tablet in supplements. Higher doses are used only under medical direction. Because the dose is so small, folic acid is blended as a trituration, and every batch is tested for content uniformity. Folic acid is sensitive to light and moisture, so appropriate packaging is essential.
Safety Notes
High doses of folic acid can hide the signs of vitamin B12 deficiency, allowing nerve damage to progress unnoticed.
