Moringa Seeds come from the long pods of Moringa oleifera, the drumstick tree. The round, winged seeds are used for pressing moringa (ben) oil, as a traditional natural water clarifier, for planting, and as a raw material for seed powder.
Arizone International supplies Moringa Seeds to herbal, Ayurvedic, food and nutraceutical manufacturers, traders, private label brands and bulk buyers. Grade, cut size, cleaning level, packaging and quantity can all be set to your specification.
Each drumstick pod contains around 15 to 20 round, dark brown seeds with papery wings. The pods are left to dry on the tree, then the seeds are removed, cleaned and graded. The seeds can be supplied whole, with their shells, or as de-shelled white kernels.
Moringa seed kernels contain about 30% to 40% oil, which is rich in oleic acid and known as ben oil. The kernels also contain proteins that help particles in water clump together, which is why crushed seeds have long been used to clear muddy water.
After harvest, the material is dried in the sun or shade, then cleaned to remove stones, dust, stems and other foreign matter, and sorted by size and quality. It can be supplied whole, cut into smaller pieces for tea and extraction, or milled into coarse or fine powder. For food and ready-to-use products, steam sterilisation can be arranged to bring microbial counts within export limits.
Formulation, dosage, safety assessment, labelling and permitted claims of the finished product must comply with the regulations of the intended market. Moringa seeds are bitter and eating large amounts can cause stomach upset, so food and supplement products should keep amounts modest.
State whether you need seeds for oil pressing, planting or water treatment, as each use needs a different grade.
For planting, ask for a recent germination test, as moringa seeds lose viability over time.
For oil pressing, de-shelled kernels give a higher oil yield and a cleaner oil than whole seeds, while whole seeds are preferred for planting. Store the seeds in a cool, dry place in breathable bags, as damp storage can cause mould and reduce germination.
