Shankhpushpi Powder is made from the dried whole plant of Convolvulus pluricaulis, a small herb named for its conch-shaped flowers ("shankha" means conch and "pushpa" means flower). In Ayurveda, Shankhpushpi is one of the best known Medhya Rasayanas, herbs traditionally used to support memory, concentration and a calm mind, and it is a familiar ingredient in brain tonics for students.
Arizone International supplies Shankhpushpi Powder for Ayurvedic manufacturers, syrup and tonic makers, cognitive wellness brands, wholesalers and exporters.
About the Plant
Convolvulus pluricaulis is a small, spreading, hairy herb with narrow leaves and tiny white to pale blue funnel-shaped flowers. It grows wild in dry, rocky and sandy places across northern and western India, especially in Rajasthan, Gujarat and the plains of north India. The whole plant, including roots, stems, leaves and flowers, is collected, dried and powdered.
One Name, Several Plants
The name Shankhpushpi is used in different regions for several plants, including Convolvulus pluricaulis, Evolvulus alsinoides (with blue flowers) and Clitoria ternatea (butterfly pea). Most authorities, including the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India, recognise Convolvulus pluricaulis as the main source. Buyers should specify the botanical name, and we confirm identity for every lot.
