Haritaki Harad Powder
Part of our Herbs range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Haritaki Powder, also called Harad or Harde Powder, is made from the dried fruit of Terminalia chebula, a large tree native to India and South Asia. The yellowish-brown powder has an astringent, slightly bitter and sour taste. Haritaki is one of the three fruits in Triphala and is sometimes called the "king of medicines" in Ayurveda.
Arizone International supplies Haritaki Powder in bulk to Ayurvedic manufacturers, supplement brands, herbal tea makers, cosmetic companies and exporters.
About Haritaki
Terminalia chebula grows in the forests of central and northern India, including Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jharkhand, as well as in Nepal, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. The fruits are collected when mature, dried in the sun and then deseeded before milling. Small, unripe fruits are sold separately as "bal harad" (black myrobalan). Haritaki fruit is also a traditional source of natural tannin for dyeing and leather tanning.

Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Haritaki powder is made from the dried fruit of Terminalia chebula, and it is one of the three fruits in Triphala. Ask for deseeded powder, as seeds add weight but little value, and ask for tannin content on the COA.
Haritaki has a mild laxative effect, so labels often suggest taking it at night with warm water. The powder absorbs moisture, so pack it in lined bags with a desiccant, and ask for heavy metal and microbiology results for export orders.
