Rosehip Powder
Part of our Herbs range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Rosehip Powder is made from the dried fruit of wild roses, mainly the dog rose, Rosa canina. These bright red-orange "hips" form after rose flowers fade and are one of nature's richest wild sources of vitamin C. The tangy, fruity powder is used in teas, food products, vitamin supplements, joint wellness products and skincare.
Arizone International supplies Rosehip Powder and dried rosehip shells for tea and food companies, supplement manufacturers, cosmetic brands, wholesalers and exporters.
A Wild Fruit of Europe and Asia
Dog roses grow wild in hedgerows, forests and hillsides across Europe, West Asia and North Africa. Rosehips have been collected for food for centuries: Swedish nyponsoppa (rosehip soup) is still a traditional dish, and rosehip jams, syrups and teas are popular across Central and Eastern Europe. Chile and parts of Eastern Europe are important commercial sources.
Inside each hip are many small seeds covered in fine, irritating hairs. For food and tea, these hairs must be removed carefully, or the seeds and shells must be milled finely under controlled conditions.
Types of Rosehip Powder
- Shell PowderMade from the fleshy outer part of the hip, with the seeds removed. Brighter in colour and higher in vitamin C.
- Whole Rosehip PowderMade from shells and seeds together. Higher in fibre and contains seed compounds, including galactolipids studied for joint comfort.
