Pomegranate Powder
Part of our Herbs range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Pomegranate Powder is made from pomegranate fruit, Punica granatum, and is supplied in two main forms: sweet-tart pomegranate juice powder, used in beverages, smoothies and supplements, and anardana powder, the tangy ground seeds used as a souring spice in Indian cooking. Both carry the bright, fruity character of pomegranate in a convenient dry form.
Arizone International supplies Pomegranate Juice Powder and Anardana Powder for beverage and food manufacturers, spice companies, supplement brands, wholesalers and exporters.
Two Very Different Products
- Pomegranate Juice PowderMade by spray-drying or freeze-drying pomegranate juice, often with a carrier. It is pink to red, sweet-tart and dissolves in water, making it ideal for drinks, gummies and supplements.
- Anardana PowderMade from the dried seeds (arils) of wild sour pomegranates, traditionally collected in the Himalayan foothills. Anardana is dark red-brown, intensely tangy and used as a spice.
Please tell us which type you need, as they are used in completely different ways.
Pomegranate in India
India is the world's largest pomegranate producer, with Maharashtra leading, especially the Solapur region, which is known for the deep red Bhagwa variety. The wild pomegranate, called daru, grows in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand, and its sour seeds are sun-dried to make anardana. Anardana gives the tangy flavour to Punjabi chole, anardana chutney, some parathas and spice blends.

Packaging and Storage
Pomegranate powders absorb moisture easily and can form hard lumps. They are packed in moisture-proof, food-grade bags and should be stored sealed in a cool, dry place.
Safety Notes
Pomegranate is safe as a food. Concentrated supplements may interact with some medicines, including certain blood pressure drugs and blood thinners, so people on medication should seek advice.
Anardana powder is also used to make tangy digestive candies and mouth fresheners.
Freeze-dried juice powder keeps the brightest colour and taste.
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Pomegranate fruit powder often contains a carrier; check the ingredient list for labelling. Keep it dry.
Tell us whether you need a carrier-free powder, and ask for microbiology results for ready-to-eat use.
