Hibiscus Flower Powder
Part of our Herbs range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Hibiscus Flower Powder is made from the dried red flowers of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, the common garden hibiscus known in India as gudhal or japa. In Indian homes, hibiscus flowers and leaves have long been used in hair oils and hair packs for soft, shiny, healthy-looking hair, and the powder is one of the most popular ingredients in natural hair care.
Arizone International supplies Hibiscus Flower Powder for hair-care and cosmetic brands, Ayurvedic companies, natural product makers, wholesalers and exporters.
Garden Hibiscus and Roselle
Two different hibiscus plants are traded. This powder is made from Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, the large red ornamental flower grown in gardens and temples across India. It is different from Hibiscus sabdariffa (roselle), whose sour red calyces are used for hibiscus tea and drinks. Please specify which one you need; we supply both.
A Flower Rooted in Tradition
Red hibiscus flowers are offered to Goddess Kali and Lord Ganesha in Hindu worship. In South India, the flower was once rubbed on shoes to give them a dark shine, earning it the nickname "shoe flower". In Ayurveda, the flower, known as Japa Pushpa, is used in hair oils such as Japa Kusumadi Taila and is considered cooling. Grandmothers across India have long simmered hibiscus flowers and leaves in coconut oil to make homemade hair oil.
