Gurmar Powder, also called Gymnema Sylvestre Powder, is a herbal powder made from the leaves of Gymnema sylvestre. This well-known herb has a special place in Ayurveda, and its processed powder is an ideal raw material for capsules, tablets, herbal blends, nutraceutical products and customised botanical preparations.
Arizone International supplies quality Gurmar Powder to Ayurvedic manufacturers, herbal companies, nutraceutical businesses, botanical processors, wholesalers, distributors, exporters and private label customers.
The "Sugar Destroyer"
Gymnema sylvestre is a woody climbing plant found in the forests of central and southern India, as well as parts of Africa and Australia. Its Hindi name, Gurmar, means "sugar destroyer". The name comes from a remarkable effect: if you chew a fresh gurmar leaf and then eat something sweet, such as sugar or a piece of chocolate, the sweet taste almost disappears for a while. This happens because compounds in the leaf, called gymnemic acids, temporarily block the sweet taste receptors on the tongue.
In Ayurveda, Gurmar (Meshashringi) has long been used in formulations associated with healthy blood sugar levels, and it remains one of the most popular herbs in this category today.
What Is Gurmar Powder?
Gurmar Powder is made from selected leaves that are cleaned, dried and milled into a fine, greenish powder. The powder is easier to measure, blend, transport, store and formulate than whole leaves. It can be supplied in preferred particle sizes and specifications, and can be used alone or with compatible herbs such as jamun seed, methi, karela and vijaysar.
