Eucalyptus Powder
Part of our Herbs range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Eucalyptus Powder is made from the dried leaves of eucalyptus trees, most commonly Eucalyptus globulus. With its strong, fresh, camphor-like aroma, it is used in herbal steam blends, bath salts, soaps, natural insect repellents, herbal teas and traditional respiratory preparations.
Arizone International supplies Eucalyptus Leaf Powder and cut leaves for soap and cosmetic makers, aromatherapy and spa brands, herbal product companies, wholesalers and exporters.
About Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus trees are native to Australia, where they dominate much of the landscape and provide the favourite food of koalas. There are hundreds of species. Eucalyptus globulus, the Tasmanian blue gum, is the main species used for leaves and essential oil. Eucalyptus has been planted widely around the world, including in India, where plantations in Tamil Nadu (especially the Nilgiris), Karnataka, Kerala and other states have been grown for timber, paper pulp and oil.
Young eucalyptus leaves are round and bluish-silver, while mature leaves are long, narrow and hang down. The leaves are dotted with tiny oil glands that release their aroma when crushed.
What Eucalyptus Leaves Contain
- 1,8-Cineole (Eucalyptol)The main aroma compound, responsible for the fresh, cooling, "clearing" scent.
- Other TerpenesSuch as alpha-pinene and limonene.
- Flavonoids and TanninsPresent in the leaf tissue.
Traditional and Modern Uses
Eucalyptus is one of the best known aromatic plants for the respiratory tract. Steam inhalation with eucalyptus leaves or oil is a traditional home remedy for a blocked nose during colds, and European herbal monographs recognise eucalyptus leaf and oil for the relief of cough associated with colds. In India, eucalyptus oil is a familiar ingredient in balms and pain-relief rubs.
