Damiana Powder is made from the dried leaves of Turnera diffusa, a small, aromatic shrub from Mexico and Central America. Damiana has a warm, slightly spicy, fig-like aroma and a long history in Mexican folk practice as a relaxing tonic and traditional aphrodisiac.
Arizone International supplies Damiana Leaf Powder and cut leaf for herbal tea brands, supplement manufacturers, men's and women's wellness companies, wholesalers and exporters.
About Damiana
Turnera diffusa grows in hot, dry, rocky areas of Mexico, particularly Baja California, as well as Central America, the Caribbean and southern Texas. It is a low shrub with small, toothed, aromatic leaves and yellow flowers. The leaves are harvested during flowering and dried. When crushed, they release a pleasant, herbal-spicy scent.
Damiana is famous in Mexico as the flavouring of a traditional sweet liqueur, often sold in a bottle shaped like a woman, and it is said to have been used in early versions of the margarita. Indigenous peoples of Mexico used the leaves as a tea for relaxation and as a tonic.
