Broccoli Powder is a fine green powder made from dried broccoli, Brassica oleracea var. italica. It brings the nutrition of this popular cruciferous vegetable into a convenient form for green superfood blends, soups, snacks, supplements and baby foods, without the short shelf life of the fresh vegetable.
Arizone International supplies Broccoli Powder, including floret powder and broccoli sprout powder, for food manufacturers, supplement brands, superfood companies, wholesalers and exporters.
Florets, Stems and Sprouts
Broccoli was developed in Italy from wild cabbage, and its name comes from the Italian word for "little sprouts". Today China and India are the world's largest broccoli producers. For powder, fresh broccoli heads are washed, cut, blanched or not depending on the process, dried at controlled temperatures and milled into a green powder. Different raw materials are used:
- Floret PowderMade mainly from the flower heads, with a bright green colour and mild vegetable taste.
- Whole Broccoli PowderIncludes stems, making it more economical and higher in fibre.
- Broccoli Sprout PowderMade from three- to five-day-old sprouts, which are far richer in glucoraphanin than mature broccoli.
Glucoraphanin and Sulforaphane
Broccoli contains glucoraphanin, a glucosinolate that converts into sulforaphane when the plant is chewed or crushed and an enzyme called myrosinase is present. Sulforaphane has been widely studied for its role in the body's natural defence systems. High-temperature processing can destroy myrosinase, so powders intended for sulforaphane-focused products are dried under gentle conditions, and some formulas add a source of active myrosinase. We can specify glucoraphanin content on request.

Packaging and Storage
Broccoli Powder is packed in food-grade, moisture-proof and light-protective bags. Store in a cool, dry, dark place to keep the green colour.
Because broccoli powder has a mild, savoury flavour, it blends easily into soups, sauces and savoury snacks without overpowering other ingredients. It is also a popular way to add vegetables to foods for children who do not like eating fresh greens.
Sprout powder grades are available on request.
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Broccoli powder is often used in green blends and soups. Ask for sulforaphane or glucoraphanin content if you need a standardised grade.
Keep packs sealed and away from light to protect the green colour, and ask for microbiology results for ready-to-eat use.
