Bhumi Amla Powder
Part of our Herbs range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Bhumi Amla Powder is made from the dried whole plant of Phyllanthus niruri (and the closely related Phyllanthus amarus), a small herb that grows in fields and gardens across India. The fine green powder has a bitter taste and is widely used in Ayurvedic liver and kidney wellness formulations, herbal teas and supplements.
Arizone International supplies Bhumi Amla Powder in bulk to Ayurvedic manufacturers, supplement brands, herbal tea makers and exporters, with custom mesh sizes and packing.
About Bhumi Amla
Bhumi Amla, meaning "ground amla", is named after the tiny, round, amla-like fruits that hang in rows beneath its feathery leaves. It is not related to the amla tree. The plant grows as a weed during the monsoon across India, and it is also found in tropical Africa, Southeast Asia and South America, where it is called "chanca piedra", meaning "stone breaker". In India it is known as Bhuiamla or Tamalaki. The whole plant is collected after the monsoon, washed, shade-dried and milled.
Phyllanthus niruri and Phyllanthus amarus
Two closely related species are traded as Bhumi Amla. Phyllanthus amarus is the species most commonly found in India, while Phyllanthus niruri is more common in the Americas. Both are used in the same way in traditional practice, and the species can be confirmed by testing.
