Avarampoo Powder
Part of our Herbs range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Avarampoo Powder is made from the dried golden-yellow flowers of Senna auriculata (also known as Cassia auriculata), called avaram in Tamil and tarwad in Hindi and Marathi. In Tamil Nadu, avarampoo tea and avarampoo bath powder are part of traditional home care, and the plant has a long history in Siddha and Ayurvedic practice.
Arizone International supplies Avarampoo Powder and dried flowers for herbal tea brands, Siddha and Ayurvedic manufacturers, natural skincare makers, wholesalers and exporters.
The Flower of the Dry Lands
Senna auriculata is a hardy shrub that grows wild on dry, rocky land and roadsides across South and Central India, especially in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. It produces clusters of large, bright yellow flowers for much of the year. There is a famous Tamil saying, "Avarai poothirukka saavorai kandathundo?", roughly meaning "Where avaram blooms, who has seen death?", which shows the high regard in which the plant is held.
The shrub's bark is rich in tannins and was once widely used for tanning leather, which is why it is called "tanner's cassia" in English.
