Alfalfa Powder
Part of our Herbs range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Alfalfa Powder is a fine, green powder made from the dried leaves of Medicago sativa, a nutrient-rich legume often called "the father of all foods". It is used as a green superfood ingredient in capsules, tablets, drink mixes and food blends, and as a natural source of chlorophyll, vitamin K and minerals.
Arizone International supplies Alfalfa Powder in bulk for supplement manufacturers, superfood and beverage brands, pet and animal nutrition companies, wholesalers and exporters.
Leaf Powder and Juice Powder
Two main types of alfalfa powder are traded:
- Alfalfa Leaf PowderMade by drying and milling whole leaves. It contains the full fibre of the leaf and is the most common type.
- Alfalfa Juice PowderMade by pressing fresh alfalfa, then drying the juice. It is lower in fibre, more concentrated in colour and dissolves better in drinks.
Please let us know which type your product needs.
How It Is Made
Alfalfa is harvested at an early stage, before full bloom, when the leaves are most tender. The leaves are separated from the stems, dried quickly at low temperature to keep their green colour, and milled and sieved into a fine powder. In India, alfalfa (known as rijka or lasunghas) is grown mainly as fodder in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.

Packaging and Storage

Alfalfa powder mixes easily into water or juice and has a mild, grassy taste.
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Alfalfa powder is often added to green blends and animal feed. Ask for microbiology and heavy metal results, and keep packs sealed to protect the green colour.
Tell us the mesh size you need for capsules, tablets or blends, and we will match the grade to it.
