In many Indian villages, chewing tender guava leaves is an old home remedy for mouth ulcers and sore gums. In Mexico and Central America, a tea of guava leaves is traditionally taken for an upset stomach. In Japan, guava leaf tea has become a popular functional beverage, often drunk with meals.
