Yarayara Oil
Part of our Oils range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Yara Yara Oil is an aromatic material with a sweet, floral and orange-blossom-like scent, based on beta-naphthyl methyl ether, known in the trade as "yara yara" or nerolin. It is widely used in soaps, detergents, perfumes, attars, incense and household fragrances, especially to give a sweet, neroli-like, long-lasting note at an economical cost.
Arizone International supplies Yara Yara in crystal and oil-solution forms for soap and detergent manufacturers, perfumers, attar makers and incense producers.
What Is Yara Yara?
Yara yara is not a plant essential oil. It is a synthetic aroma chemical called 2-methoxynaphthalene (beta-naphthyl methyl ether), first produced in the late 19th century. It forms white crystals with a strong, sweet, floral scent reminiscent of orange blossom and acacia. Because it is stable and long-lasting, it became popular in soaps, where natural neroli would be far too expensive and less stable. A related compound, bromelia (beta-naphthyl ethyl ether), has a similar, softer scent.
"Yara yara oil" usually refers to yara yara crystals dissolved in a suitable solvent or oil so that they are easier to use in liquid formulations.
Aroma Profile
Yara yara has a sweet, floral, orange-blossom and slightly strawberry-like scent, with good tenacity. It is often used with neroli, petitgrain, orange and jasmine notes to build orange-blossom accords. In India, it is widely used in soaps, agarbatti, attars and perfumed hair oils.

- Melting point (around 72°C for crystals)

Packaging and Storage
Crystals are supplied in bags or fibre drums; oil solutions in HDPE containers or drums. Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from light.
It is often paired with bromelia in soap perfumes.
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Yara yara crystals dissolve easily in DEP or DPG, so many soap and agarbatti makers buy a ready-made solution for easier dosing. It pairs well with neroli, petitgrain and orange notes to build an orange-blossom accord.
