Pomegranate Seed Oil is a rare, premium oil pressed from the small seeds of the pomegranate fruit, Punica granatum. It stands out from almost every other plant oil because most of its fatty acids are punicic acid, an unusual omega-5 fatty acid, which has made it a sought-after ingredient in premium skin care and specialty supplements.
Arizone International supplies Pomegranate Seed Oil for cosmetic manufacturing, softgel and food applications, private label ranges, wholesale and bulk orders, with processing, packaging and quantities set to your needs.
What Is Pomegranate Seed Oil?
India is one of the world's largest pomegranate producers. When the fruit is pressed for juice, the seeds are left behind; they are cleaned, dried and cold-pressed or extracted to produce the oil. The seeds contain only a small amount of oil, so it takes a large quantity of seeds to make one litre, which explains its premium price.
Pomegranate seed oil usually contains 65% to 80% punicic acid, a conjugated linolenic acid found in very few plants. The rest is mainly linoleic, oleic and palmitic acids. The oil is pale yellow, fairly thick and has a mild, slightly fruity smell. It also contains natural plant sterols and tocopherols.

Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Because it is expensive, pomegranate seed oil is sometimes diluted with cheaper oils, so always ask for the punicic acid content by gas chromatography. Punicic acid is sensitive to heat and light, so store the oil cool and sealed, and consider adding natural vitamin E to finished products.
