Babchi Oil is a traditional Ayurvedic oil made from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia, known in India as Bakuchi or Babchi. It has a long history in Ayurvedic skin preparations, and today it is used mainly by Ayurvedic manufacturers and practitioners in external-use formulations.
Arizone International supplies Babchi Oil to Ayurvedic manufacturers, herbal brands, wholesalers and bulk buyers, as pure seed oil or in a carrier-oil base, with packaging and quantities set to your needs.
Psoralea corylifolia (now also classified as Cullen corylifolium) is an annual herb that grows across India. Its small, hard, dark brown seeds have a bitter taste and a strong smell, and they are an important ingredient in classical Ayurvedic texts, where Bakuchi is described mainly for skin care.
The oil contains natural furanocoumarins, especially psoralen and isopsoralen, and a compound called bakuchiol. Psoralens make the skin much more sensitive to sunlight, which is central to how Babchi has traditionally been used and also why it must be handled with care. Bakuchiol, by contrast, is often extracted separately and sold as a purified cosmetic ingredient.
Formulation, concentration, safety assessment, labelling and permitted claims of the final product must comply with the regulations of the intended market. Babchi Oil is for external use only and should not be taken internally.
Psoralens can cause severe skin reactions when treated skin is exposed to sunlight, so Babchi products should carry clear warnings, be used only as directed, and be kept away from children. Many markets strictly limit psoralens in cosmetics; in the EU, for example, they are largely prohibited, so Babchi Oil is mainly suited to Ayurvedic products sold under the relevant rules. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use it.
Arizone International is an India-based manufacturer, supplier and exporter of carrier oils, essential oils, botanical extracts and Ayurvedic ingredients. We support wholesale supply, bulk orders, private label development and customised specifications for processing, packaging, labelling and quantity.
