Resveratrol Tablet
Part of our Nutraceuticals range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Resveratrol Tablets are antioxidant supplements that provide trans-resveratrol, a polyphenol found in grape skins, red wine, peanuts, berries and the roots of Japanese knotweed. Resveratrol became famous as one of the compounds behind the "French paradox" and is now a popular ingredient in healthy-ageing and heart wellness products.
Arizone International manufactures and supplies Resveratrol Tablets with standardised trans-resveratrol, alone or in combination with other antioxidants, for nutraceutical brands and private label businesses.
The French Paradox
In the early 1990s, researchers pointed out that people in France had relatively low rates of heart disease despite a diet rich in saturated fat, and suggested red wine might play a role. Resveratrol, a compound plants make to defend against fungi and stress, was one of the red wine components that attracted attention. Later laboratory research on resveratrol and sirtuins, a group of proteins linked with ageing, pushed its popularity even higher. Human research is still developing, and the amount of resveratrol in a glass of wine is far lower than in supplements.
Sources of Resveratrol
- Japanese Knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum)The main commercial source, extracted and purified to 50% to 98% trans-resveratrol.
- Grape Skin and SeedNatural sources, usually with lower resveratrol content.
- Fermentation-DerivedHigh-purity resveratrol produced by yeast fermentation.
Only the trans form is considered the main active form, so extracts should be specified as trans-resveratrol.
Applications
- Healthy-ageing and longevity supplements
- Heart and circulation wellness formulas
- Antioxidant blends with grape seed, quercetin and green tea
- Metabolic formulas combining resveratrol and berberine
- Skin wellness and beauty supplements
- Private label premium supplement ranges
Formulation Notes
Common strengths range from 100 mg to 500 mg trans-resveratrol per tablet. Resveratrol is poorly soluble in water and quickly broken down in the body, which is why some brands pair it with piperine or use enhanced delivery forms. It is also sensitive to light, which can convert the trans form into the cis form, so opaque packaging is recommended. Grades with 50% resveratrol from knotweed may contain emodin, which can have a laxative effect; high-purity grades avoid this.
Safety Notes
Resveratrol may have a mild blood-thinning effect and may interact with anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs and medicines processed by the liver. People with hormone-sensitive conditions, and pregnant or breastfeeding women, should consult a healthcare professional. High doses may cause stomach upset.
Quality Considerations
- Source of resveratrol and trans-resveratrol content by HPLC
- Emodin content in knotweed extracts
- Residual solvents, heavy metals and microbiology
- Light-protective packaging and stability
- Batch consistency and Certificate of Analysis
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Ask for trans-resveratrol content on the COA, as only the trans form is the active one. Resveratrol is light-sensitive, so opaque bottles or coated tablets are recommended.
Resveratrol is often paired with quercetin.
