Kapoor Kachli Powder
Part of our Herbs range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Kapoor Kachli Powder is made from the dried, aromatic rhizomes of Hedychium spicatum, the spiked ginger lily. As the name suggests ("kapoor" means camphor), the rhizome has a warm, camphor-like, slightly spicy fragrance, which has made it a favourite ingredient in herbal hair oils, shampoos, bath powders and incense across India.
Arizone International supplies Kapoor Kachli Powder and dried rhizome slices for hair-care and cosmetic brands, incense and dhoop makers, Ayurvedic and Unani companies, wholesalers and exporters.
About Kapoor Kachli
Hedychium spicatum is a perennial plant of the ginger family that grows in the forests of the Himalayas, from Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh to Uttarakhand, Nepal and the north-east, usually between about 1,000 and 3,000 metres. It has long, lance-shaped leaves and fragrant white-and-orange flower spikes. The underground rhizomes are dug up, washed, sliced and dried. In Ayurveda, the plant is known as Shati, and in Unani medicine as Kafoor Kachri.
Kapoor kachli is sometimes confused with kachur (Curcuma zedoaria), another aromatic rhizome. The two are different plants, so correct identification is important.
