Gokhru Capsules are Ayurvedic herbal supplements made from the fruit of Tribulus terrestris, known in Sanskrit as Gokshura. The name means something like "cow's hoof", because the hard, spiky fruit can hurt the hooves of grazing cattle. In Ayurveda, Gokshura is best known as a herb for the urinary system and for male vitality.
Arizone International manufactures and supplies Gokhru Capsules made from traditional fruit powder or extract, for Ayurvedic brands, urinary and men's wellness companies and private label businesses. (We also list Tribulus Extract Capsules separately, for sports and saponin-standardised products.)
Gokhru in Ayurveda
Tribulus terrestris grows as a low, spreading herb in dry, sandy soils across India, especially in Rajasthan and Gujarat. After the monsoon, it produces small yellow flowers followed by star-shaped fruits with sharp spines. The dried fruit is the part used in classical Ayurveda.
Gokshura is described as cooling, nourishing and a Rasayana, or rejuvenating herb. It is one of the ten roots of the famous Dashamoola formula and the main ingredient in Gokshuradi Guggulu, a classical tablet for the urinary tract. It also appears in many traditional vitality formulas for men.
What Gokhru Fruit Contains
- Steroidal SaponinsSuch as protodioscin, the most studied group of compounds in Tribulus.
- FlavonoidsIncluding quercetin and kaempferol glycosides.
- AlkaloidsSuch as harmane, in small amounts.
- MineralsIncluding potassium and nitrates, linked to its traditional diuretic use.
Applications
- Urinary tract and kidney wellness supplements
- Ayurvedic formulas with punarnava, varun and pashanbhed
- Men's vitality blends with ashwagandha, shilajit and safed musli
- Women's wellness and general Rasayana products
- Single-herb Ayurvedic ranges and private label products
Formulation Options
We can fill capsules with finely milled Gokhru fruit powder for traditional products, or with a concentrated extract, including ratio extracts or saponin-standardised grades. Typical fills are 400 mg to 500 mg per capsule in gelatin or vegetarian shells. Because the dried fruit is spiny and tough, proper milling and sieving are important for a smooth, even fill.
Safety Notes
Because Gokhru is traditionally used as a diuretic, people on diuretics, lithium or blood pressure medicines should consult a doctor. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. People with kidney disease or hormone-sensitive conditions should seek medical advice first.
Quality Considerations
- Tribulus terrestris fruit identity, separate from Pedalium murex (bada gokhru)
- Moisture, ash, acid-insoluble ash and sand content
- Saponin content where specified
- Heavy metals, pesticides and microbial limits
- Batch consistency and Certificate of Analysis
Gokhru is harvested once a year after the monsoon, so we plan raw material purchases in advance to keep supply steady for regular orders.
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Gokhru capsules can use fruit powder for traditional formulas or saponin-standardised extract for sports nutrition. State the saponin content on the label if you use an extract.
