Yucca Root Extract
Part of our Herbal Extracts range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Yucca Root Extract comes from Yucca schidigera, a rugged desert plant that grows in the Mojave Desert and the dry regions of north-western Mexico. The plant stores water and defensive compounds in its thick trunk and root, and those compounds, called saponins, are what make yucca extract so useful to food, beverage, feed and personal-care manufacturers.
Arizone International supplies Yucca Root Extract in powder and liquid forms, standardised to saponin content, for buyers worldwide.
About Yucca Schidigera
Yucca schidigera is also called Mojave yucca or Spanish dagger because of its stiff, sharp leaves. It is not the same as yuca, the starchy root (cassava) eaten in Latin America and Africa, though the names are often confused. Native American peoples crushed yucca roots in water to make soap and shampoo, because the saponins create a natural lather.
Commercial yucca is harvested mainly in Baja California in Mexico, where the plant is regulated and managed to protect wild populations. The trunks are mechanically shredded and pressed, and the juice is concentrated or dried into powder.
