Amla Extract is a concentrated powder made from the fruit of Phyllanthus emblica (also called Emblica officinalis), the Indian gooseberry. It is one of the richest natural sources of vitamin C and polyphenols, and it is widely used in nutraceuticals, Ayurvedic products, functional foods and cosmetics.
Arizone International manufactures and exports Amla Extract in standardised grades for supplement brands, food and beverage companies, cosmetic manufacturers and private label businesses.
About Amla
Amla is a medium-sized tree native to India. Its round, pale green fruits are very sour and astringent when fresh. India is the world's main producer, with large orchards in Uttar Pradesh (especially Pratapgarh), Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The fruit is harvested mainly in winter. In Ayurveda, amla is one of the most important Rasayana herbs, the main ingredient of Chyawanprash and one of the three fruits in Triphala.
How Amla Extract Is Made
Fresh or dried amla fruits are deseeded, crushed and extracted with water or a water-alcohol mixture. The extract is filtered, concentrated under vacuum at low temperature and spray dried into a fine, light brown powder. Gentle processing helps protect the vitamin C and tannins, which are sensitive to heat and air.
