Bhumiamla Capsules
Part of our Capsules range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Bhumiamla Capsules are Ayurvedic herbal supplements made from Phyllanthus niruri and closely related Phyllanthus species, a small herb whose name literally means "amla of the earth". It gets that name from the tiny round fruits that hang in neat rows beneath its leaves, looking like miniature gooseberries.
Arizone International manufactures and supplies Bhumiamla Capsules with whole-herb powder or standardised extract for Ayurvedic brands, liver-care product companies and private label sellers.
A Small Herb With a Big Reputation
Bhumiamla is an annual herb that grows about 30 to 60 cm tall and pops up in fields, gardens and roadsides across India during the monsoon. Farmers often treat it as a weed. In Ayurveda, however, it is highly respected, and in South America the same genus is known as "chanca piedra", meaning "stone breaker", because of its traditional use for kidney and gallbladder stones.
In India, Bhumiamla is best known as a liver herb. Traditional practitioners use the fresh juice or dried powder in formulas for jaundice and for general liver support, and it features in many popular Ayurvedic liver tonics.
What Bhumiamla Contains
- LignansPhyllanthin and hypophyllanthin are the key marker compounds used to standardise extracts.
- FlavonoidsIncluding quercetin, rutin and astragalin.
- EllagitanninsSuch as geraniin and corilagin.
- Alkaloids and Other CompoundsPresent in smaller amounts.
Applications
- Liver wellness and liver-detox capsules
- Polyherbal liver formulas with kutki, kalmegh and punarnava
- Kidney and urinary wellness products
- Digestive wellness supplements
- Single-herb Ayurvedic capsule ranges
- Private label Ayurvedic products
Bhumiamla products should be positioned as supplements. Anyone with signs of liver disease, such as yellowing of the eyes or skin, must see a doctor.
Formulation Options
We can fill capsules with whole-plant powder, which follows traditional practice, or with an extract standardised to phyllanthin, bitter principles or total tannins. Typical fills are 400 mg to 500 mg per capsule in gelatin or vegetarian shells, packed in HDPE bottles, blisters or bulk.
Safety Notes
Bhumiamla may lower blood sugar and has traditionally been used as a diuretic, so people on diabetes, blood pressure or diuretic medicines should seek medical advice. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Quality Considerations
Several Phyllanthus species look almost identical, including P. niruri, P. amarus, P. fraternus and P. urinaria. Most Indian Bhumiamla in trade is actually P. amarus. We confirm species identity and check marker content, moisture, foreign matter, heavy metals, pesticides and microbial limits. A certificate of analysis comes with every batch.
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Ask for phyllanthin content if you want a standardised Bhumiamla extract, and confirm the species (Phyllanthus amarus or P. niruri) on the COA. Bhumiamla is often combined with Kutki and Kalmegh in liver formulas, so we can make multi-herb capsules to your recipe.
