Peppermint Capsules
Part of our Capsules range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Peppermint Capsules are digestive supplements made with peppermint leaf or, most often, peppermint oil from Mentha x piperita. Enteric-coated peppermint oil capsules are one of the best-studied herbal products for digestive comfort, particularly for bloating and abdominal discomfort linked to irritable bowel.
Arizone International manufactures and supplies Peppermint Capsules, including enteric-coated oil capsules and leaf powder capsules, for nutraceutical brands, digestive health companies and private label businesses.
A Natural Hybrid
Peppermint is a natural cross between water mint and spearmint, first described in England in the seventeenth century. Because it is a hybrid, it rarely produces viable seed and is grown from runners. The United States is a major producer of peppermint oil, and India grows large amounts of related mints for menthol. Peppermint's cool, sharp flavour comes from menthol, which makes up a large part of its essential oil.
Why Enteric Coating Matters
Peppermint oil relaxes the smooth muscle of the gut. That is helpful in the intestines, where it can ease cramping and bloating, but if the oil is released in the stomach it can relax the valve at the top of the stomach and cause heartburn and minty burps. Enteric-coated capsules stay intact through the stomach and release the oil in the small intestine, where it is intended to work. Several clinical trials and reviews support enteric-coated peppermint oil for symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.

Safety Notes
People with acid reflux or hiatus hernia should use only enteric-coated products, and should consult a doctor. Capsules should be swallowed whole, not chewed or opened. Peppermint oil should not be given to infants or young children. It may interact with antacids, which can dissolve the coating too early, and with certain medicines processed by the liver.
Quality Considerations
- Mentha x piperita oil identity and origin
- Menthol and menthone content by gas chromatography
- Pulegone and menthofuran below recommended limits
- Enteric coating performance (disintegration testing)
- Heavy metals and residual solvents
