Papaya is a fast-growing tropical plant grown across India, especially in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. India is the world's largest producer of papaya fruit. The large, deeply lobed leaves are very bitter. In India and Southeast Asia, fresh papaya leaf juice has become a well-known home remedy during dengue season, and papaya leaf products are now widely sold as capsules, tablets and syrups.

Research Interest
Some clinical studies, mainly in South and Southeast Asia, have looked at papaya leaf extract for platelet counts in dengue patients, with encouraging results.
