Panax Ginseng Capsules are herbal supplements made from the root of Panax ginseng, also known as Korean or Asian ginseng. For more than two thousand years, ginseng has been one of the most prized tonic herbs in China and Korea, taken for energy, stamina and resilience.
Arizone International manufactures and supplies Panax Ginseng Capsules with standardised ginsenoside extract, for nutraceutical brands, energy and vitality product companies and private label businesses.
The Root Shaped Like a Man
The name "ginseng" comes from the Chinese "ren shen", meaning "man root", because the forked root often looks like a human figure. The genus name Panax comes from the Greek word for "all-healing", the same root as panacea. Wild ginseng was once so valuable that it was traded for its weight in silver, and wild roots are still extremely rare and expensive today.
Most ginseng used in supplements is cultivated, mainly in Korea and northeastern China. Roots are usually grown for four to six years before harvest. White ginseng is simply dried, while red ginseng is steamed before drying, which changes its colour and some of its compounds.
Panax Ginseng vs Other "Ginsengs"
- Panax ginsengKorean or Asian ginseng, traditionally seen as warming and energising.
- Panax quinquefoliusAmerican ginseng, considered more cooling and calming.
- Other plantsSiberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus) and Indian ginseng (ashwagandha) are not true ginsengs, though they are also adaptogens.
Key Compounds
The main active compounds in Panax ginseng are ginsenosides, a group of triterpene saponins such as Rb1, Rg1 and Re. Extracts are commonly standardised to 4% to 10% total ginsenosides, and some high-strength grades go higher. Ginseng also contains polysaccharides and polyacetylenes.
Applications

Formulation Options
A typical capsule contains 100 mg to 400 mg of standardised extract. Ginseng is often recommended in cycles, for example a few weeks on followed by a break. We can make single-ingredient capsules or blends with ashwagandha, rhodiola, B vitamins or other ingredients.
Safety Notes
Ginseng may cause sleeplessness, headaches or nervousness in some people. It may interact with blood thinners, diabetes medicines, antidepressants and stimulants. It is not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or for people with high blood pressure without medical advice.
Quality Considerations
- Panax species identity and root age
- Total and individual ginsenosides by HPLC
- Screening for adulteration with cheaper plant parts or other species
- Pesticide residues, heavy metals and microbiology
- Batch consistency and Certificate of Analysis
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Ask for total ginsenoside content on the COA and choose red or white ginseng to suit your product. Labels should advise people on blood thinners, diabetes medicines or antidepressants to consult their doctor.
