Neem Capsules are Ayurvedic herbal supplements made from the leaves of Azadirachta indica, the neem tree that stands in villages, courtyards and roadsides all over India. Neem is so closely tied to health in Indian culture that it has been called "sarva roga nivarini", the healer of all ailments, and "the village pharmacy".
Arizone International manufactures and supplies Neem Capsules with leaf powder or extract, for Ayurvedic brands, skin wellness companies and private label businesses.
The Village Pharmacy
Neem is a fast-growing evergreen tree that thrives in hot, dry conditions. Almost every part of it is used. Twigs are chewed as datun toothbrushes, leaves are boiled for bath water or placed in grain stores to keep insects away, and the seed oil is used in soaps and as a natural pesticide. On Gudi Padwa and Ugadi, many families eat neem flowers or tender leaves with jaggery as a symbol of life's bitter and sweet moments.
In Ayurveda, neem is described as bitter and cooling, and is traditionally used to support clear skin, healthy blood sugar and oral health.
What Neem Leaves Contain
- LimonoidsSuch as nimbin, nimbidin and nimbolide, responsible for neem's bitterness.
- FlavonoidsIncluding quercetin and rutin.
- Polysaccharides and TanninsPresent in smaller amounts.
Azadirachtin, the compound famous for neem's insect-repelling action, is found mostly in the seeds rather than the leaves.
Applications
- Skin clarity supplements, often with manjistha, turmeric and guduchi
- Ayurvedic blood-purifier formulas
- Blood sugar wellness blends with karela, jamun and methi
- Oral and gum wellness products
- Seasonal and immune wellness formulas
- Private label Ayurvedic ranges
Formulation Options
Neem leaves are intensely bitter, so capsules are by far the easiest way to take them. We can fill capsules with shade-dried leaf powder or with a concentrated leaf extract, typically 400 mg to 500 mg per capsule. Gelatin and vegetarian HPMC shells are available.
Safety Notes
Neem leaf supplements are meant for short to moderate use in adults. They should not be used during pregnancy, while trying to conceive, or while breastfeeding, as neem has traditionally been linked with effects on fertility. Neem oil must never be given to children by mouth. People on diabetes medication or immunosuppressants should consult a doctor.
Quality Considerations
- Azadirachta indica leaf identity, not Melia azedarach (bakain)
- Colour and bitterness showing proper shade drying
- Moisture and foreign matter
- Heavy metals, pesticides and microbiology
- Batch consistency and Certificate of Analysis
Neem leaves are best collected from mature, healthy trees away from busy roads and industrial areas. We follow this practice to keep heavy metal and dust levels low in the final powder.
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Neem capsules are intended for short-term use; labels should advise against use during pregnancy or when trying to conceive.
