About Mullein
Common mullein is a tall biennial plant native to Europe and Asia, now found wild across North America and many other regions, including the Himalayan foothills. In its first year it forms a rosette of large, velvety, grey-green leaves, and in its second year it sends up a tall spike of yellow flowers that can reach two metres. Its soft leaves earned it names such as "velvet plant" and "flannel leaf". Mullein has a long history in European and Native American folk traditions, where the leaves were made into teas and the flowers infused in oil for ear care.
