Turmeric Oil is a warm, spicy, earthy and slightly woody essential oil steam distilled from the rhizomes of Curcuma longa, the turmeric plant. Unlike turmeric powder, the essential oil contains almost no curcumin; its aroma and properties come from compounds called turmerones. It is used in flavours, perfumery, cosmetics, Ayurvedic preparations and aromatherapy.
Arizone International supplies Turmeric Oil for flavour houses, cosmetic and skin care brands, Ayurvedic product makers and aromatherapy companies.
India, the Home of Turmeric
India produces around three-quarters of the world's turmeric and is also its largest consumer and exporter. The main growing states are Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Erode in Tamil Nadu and Sangli in Maharashtra are major trading centres, and Nizamabad in Telangana is also well known. Famous varieties include Alleppey turmeric from Kerala and Lakadong turmeric from Meghalaya, which is known for its high curcumin content. Turmeric (haldi) is central to Indian cooking, weddings, rituals and Ayurveda.
Turmeric Oil vs Curcumin
Turmeric contains two main groups of active compounds. Curcuminoids, which give the yellow colour, are heavy compounds that do not pass into steam-distilled oil; they are obtained as turmeric extracts or oleoresins. The essential oil is rich in volatile turmerones. Turmeric oleoresin contains both the oil and curcuminoids. Please specify which product you need.

Tips for Buyers and Formulators
