Rosehip Oil, also known as rosehip seed oil, is pressed from the seeds of wild rose fruits, mainly Rosa rubiginosa and Rosa canina. It is one of the most popular oils in natural facial care, known for its light texture, its golden to orange colour and its high content of essential fatty acids.

Arizone International supplies Rosehip Oil for cosmetic manufacturing, private label skin care ranges, wholesale and bulk orders, with processing, packaging and quantities set to your needs.

What Is Rosehip Oil?

Rosehips are the small, round fruits that form after wild roses flower. Most commercial rosehip oil comes from Chile, where wild roses grow widely in the Andes. The seeds are separated from the fruit, dried and cold-pressed or extracted with supercritical CO2.

The oil is rich in linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3), which together usually make up more than 75% of its fatty acids. It also contains natural carotenoids, which give unrefined oil its orange tint, and tocopherols. Because it is so rich in polyunsaturated fats, rosehip oil is delicate and needs careful handling.

  • Fatty acid profile with linoleic and alpha-linolenic acid
  • Acid value and peroxide value, which show freshness
  • Colour and carotenoid level matched to the grade
  • Heavy metal and contaminant testing where applicable
  • Batch consistency, Certificate of Analysis, nitrogen-flushed packaging

Tips for Buyers and Formulators

Rosehip oil goes rancid faster than most carrier oils, so check the peroxide value, buy in quantities you can use within a few months, and store it cool, sealed and away from light. Adding natural vitamin E and using dark glass or airless packs helps finished products last longer.

In facial oils, rosehip is often used at 10% to 30% together with more stable oils such as jojoba or marula, which helps extend the shelf life of the blend. CO2-extracted rosehip oil keeps more of the natural carotenoids and is a popular premium option.
