Evening Primrose Oil is a light, golden oil pressed from the tiny seeds of Oenothera biennis, a wildflower whose yellow blooms open in the evening. It is valued mainly for its gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an uncommon omega-6 fatty acid, and it has been a staple ingredient in women's wellness softgels and skin care for decades.

Arizone International supplies Evening Primrose Oil for softgel manufacturing, cosmetic formulations, private label projects and bulk orders, with GLA content, processing, packaging and quantities set to your needs.

What Is Evening Primrose Oil?

Evening primrose is a biennial plant native to North America and now grown commercially in China and parts of Europe. Each seed pod holds hundreds of very small seeds, which are cleaned and pressed to release the oil. The oil is rich in linoleic acid, usually around 70% to 75%, and contains about 8% to 10% GLA, which is what sets it apart from most other seed oils.

Because it is so rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, evening primrose oil oxidises easily. Good suppliers press it at low temperatures, protect it from air and often add a small amount of natural vitamin E to keep it fresh.

Ask for GLA content by gas chromatography on every batch, as low-cost oils are sometimes diluted with cheaper seed oils. Store drums cool, sealed and away from light, and use opened containers quickly. People taking blood thinners or certain psychiatric medicines, and those with a history of seizures, should be advised to consult a doctor before taking evening primrose oil supplements.
