Green Coffee Bean Extract
Part of our Herbal Extracts range, manufactured and exported by Arizone International LLP.
Green Coffee Bean Extract is a concentrated powder made from unroasted coffee beans of Coffea arabica and Coffea canephora (robusta). Because the beans are not roasted, they keep a high level of chlorogenic acids, which are largely destroyed by roasting. The extract is used in weight management, metabolic and antioxidant supplements, functional drinks and cosmetics.
Arizone International manufactures and exports Green Coffee Bean Extract in standardised and low-caffeine grades for supplement brands, beverage makers, cosmetic companies and private label businesses.
Indian Coffee
India is one of the world's significant coffee producers. Most Indian coffee is grown under shade in the hills of Karnataka, especially Chikmagalur and Kodagu (Coorg), and in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. India grows both arabica and robusta, and robusta beans, which are naturally richer in chlorogenic acids, are often preferred for green coffee extract.
How Green Coffee Bean Extract Is Made
Raw green beans are cleaned and ground, then extracted with water or water-ethanol. The extract is filtered, concentrated at low temperature and spray dried into a fine, light green-brown powder with a mild, grassy taste, quite different from roasted coffee. Caffeine can be partly removed to make low-caffeine or decaffeinated grades.

Research Interest
Green coffee extract has been studied for body weight, blood sugar and blood pressure. Some small trials reported benefits, but the evidence is mixed and one widely publicised study was later retracted. These are research findings, not approved health claims.
Safety
Standard grades contain caffeine, so labels should state caffeine content. Caffeine-sensitive people, pregnant or breastfeeding women and children should avoid high-caffeine products.
