Ginseng Extract is a concentrated powder made from the roots of ginseng, mainly Panax ginseng (Korean or Asian ginseng) and Panax quinquefolius (American ginseng). It is standardised to ginsenosides, the natural saponins that give ginseng its value, and it is one of the best-known herbal ingredients for energy and vitality products.
Arizone International supplies Ginseng Extract in standardised grades to supplement brands, sports nutrition companies, energy drink makers and private label businesses.
About Ginseng
True ginseng belongs to the Panax genus. Panax ginseng grows in Korea and north-east China, while Panax quinquefolius grows in eastern North America. The plants take four to six years to reach harvest, which makes the root valuable. Ginseng has been used in traditional Chinese and Korean medicine for more than 2,000 years. The name Panax comes from the Greek word for "all-healing". Ashwagandha, sometimes called Indian ginseng, is a different plant.
Red and White Ginseng
- White GinsengRoots that are peeled or simply dried in the sun.
- Red GinsengRoots that are steamed and then dried, which turns them reddish-brown and changes the ginsenoside profile. Korean red ginseng is especially well known.
How Ginseng Extract Is Made
Dried roots are extracted with water or a water-ethanol mixture. The extract is filtered, concentrated and spray dried into a light yellow to brown powder with a bitter-sweet taste. Extracts are standardised to a stated percentage of total ginsenosides.
Standardisation Options
- Total Ginsenosides 5% to 10%Standard grades for capsules and blends.
- Total Ginsenosides 20% to 80%Concentrated grades by UV or HPLC.
- Specific GinsenosidesSuch as Rb1 and Rg1, specified by HPLC on request.
Applications
- Energy, stamina and vitality supplements
- Mental focus and cognitive wellness formulas
- Sports nutrition and endurance products
- Energy drinks, teas and functional beverages
- Men's wellness and healthy ageing products
- Skin care creams and serums
Research Interest
Panax ginseng has been studied for fatigue, mental performance, immune function and blood sugar balance. Results vary between studies and extract types. These are research findings, not approved health claims.
Safety
Ginseng may cause sleeplessness or nervousness at high doses. It can interact with blood thinners, diabetes medicines and some antidepressants, and it is not recommended during pregnancy or for children. People with high blood pressure should seek medical advice.
Quality and Authenticity
Because ginseng is valuable, low-grade extracts are sometimes adulterated with other plant saponins, or labelled incorrectly. We supply ginseng extracts with HPLC fingerprinting to confirm the species and ginsenoside profile.

- Species identity (Panax ginseng or Panax quinquefolius) and root origin
