Ginkgo Biloba Extract is a powder made from the leaves of the ginkgo tree (Ginkgo biloba), standardised to the 24/6 specification: 24% flavone glycosides and 6% terpene lactones, with ginkgolic acids limited to below 5 ppm.
Arizone International supplies Ginkgo Biloba Extract to supplement brands and contract manufacturers, with HPLC-based testing and a certificate of analysis for every batch.
About Ginkgo
Ginkgo biloba is one of the oldest living tree species, often called a living fossil. Leaves for extraction come from cultivated plantations and are harvested while still green. The standardised leaf extract has been widely used in Europe for decades.
How Ginkgo Biloba Extract Is Made
Dried leaves are extracted with an acetone-water or ethanol-water mixture, then purified in several steps to concentrate flavonoids and terpene lactones and to remove ginkgolic acids. The purified extract is dried into a fine yellow-brown powder.

Adulteration Risk
Ginkgo extract is one of the most frequently adulterated botanicals: low-cost material is sometimes spiked with rutin or quercetin to pass a simple flavonoid test. A full HPLC profile, not just a total flavonoid figure, is the best protection.
