Emblica Officinalis Extract is a concentrated powder made from the fruit of Emblica officinalis, now known botanically as Phyllanthus emblica, the Indian gooseberry or amla. It is standardised to tannins or polyphenols and is used in antioxidant supplements, Ayurvedic formulations, functional foods, hair care and skin care products.
Arizone International manufactures and exports Emblica Officinalis Extract for supplement brands, Ayurvedic manufacturers, cosmetic companies and private label businesses.
Emblica Officinalis and Amla
Emblica officinalis is the older botanical name for amla, the same fruit sold as Amla Extract. Many pharmacopoeias, ingredient lists (INCI) and export documents still use this name, so buyers often search for it separately. The fruit comes from a medium-sized tree native to India, with major growing areas in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. It is a key ingredient of Chyawanprash and one of the three fruits in Triphala.
How the Extract Is Made
Fresh or dried fruits are deseeded and extracted with water or water-alcohol. The extract is filtered, concentrated under vacuum at low temperature and spray dried into a light brown, astringent powder. Low-heat processing protects the tannins and natural vitamin C.

The extract is supplied in 25 kg fibre or HDPE drums with double food-grade liners, or in 1 kg and 5 kg aluminium foil bags. It absorbs moisture, so store it in a cool, dry place in tightly closed packs.
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Amla extract is usually standardised to tannins or vitamin C, so ask which marker and test method are used on the COA. For Ayurvedic products, amla extract is often combined with haritaki and bibhitaki as Triphala.
Amla extract absorbs moisture, so keep it in sealed packs with a desiccant.
