Chamomile Extract is made from the small, apple-scented flowers of German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla). Chamomile tea is one of the most widely drunk herbal teas in the world, and the extract takes that familiar plant into capsules, drinks, cosmetics and baby-care products.
Arizone International manufactures, supplies and exports Chamomile Extract from India, with apigenin-standardised and ratio grades available for bulk buyers.
What Is Chamomile Extract?
Chamomile flowers are harvested when fully open, dried and then extracted with water, alcohol or a mix of both. The liquid is concentrated and dried into a fine yellow-brown powder. Liquid and glycerin extracts are also prepared for cosmetic and beverage use.
There are two main chamomiles in trade. German chamomile is the one most used for extracts and teas. Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) is more common in essential oils and perfumery. When people talk about chamomile extract, they almost always mean the German variety.
Key Compounds
- ApigeninA flavonoid found mainly as glycosides in the flowers. Extracts are commonly standardised at 1.2% or 3% apigenin, with high-purity apigenin also available.
- Alpha-BisabololA soothing compound valued in skin care, found in the oil fraction of the flowers.
- ChamazuleneForms during steam distillation and gives chamomile oil its blue colour. It is present in only small amounts in dry extracts.
- Coumarins and Phenolic AcidsContribute to the overall botanical profile.
How Chamomile Extract Is Used
For many consumers, chamomile means a cup of tea before bed. That association has carried over into supplements, where chamomile is a common ingredient in relaxation and sleep formulas. Skin-care brands like it for its gentle, calming image and its long history of use on sensitive skin.

Safety Notes for Labels
Chamomile is a member of the daisy family. People allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums or marigolds may also react to chamomile. It is a good idea to include an allergy note on finished products. Anyone taking blood thinners or sedative medicines should talk to a healthcare professional before using concentrated chamomile supplements.
Our Quality Approach
Chamomile flowers are delicate and can lose aroma and colour if stored badly. We source dried flowers from reliable suppliers, check them for foreign matter and identity, and test finished extract for apigenin content, moisture, heavy metals and microbial counts. A certificate of analysis is shared with each batch.
Tips for Buyers and Formulators
Ask for apigenin content on the COA.
