Ashwagandha Extract is a concentrated powder made from the roots of Withania somnifera, one of the most valued herbs in Ayurveda. It is standardised to withanolides, the natural compounds used to measure its quality, and it is one of the most popular botanical ingredients in the global supplement market.
Arizone International manufactures and exports Ashwagandha Extract in several standardisations for supplement brands, sports nutrition companies, functional food makers and private label businesses.
About Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha is a small shrub of the nightshade family, sometimes called Indian ginseng or winter cherry. India is the world's main source, and the largest cultivation area is around Mandsaur and Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh, along with parts of Rajasthan. In Ayurveda it is a Rasayana, traditionally used to support strength, vitality, calm and restful sleep. Its Sanskrit name means "smell of a horse", referring to the root's smell and its reputation for giving strength.
How Ashwagandha Extract Is Made
Dried roots are cleaned, milled and extracted with water, alcohol or a water-alcohol mixture. The extract is filtered, concentrated under vacuum and spray dried into a fine, light brown powder. Root-only extracts are preferred, because most traditional use and clinical research focus on the root. Several European regulators have advised against using the leaves in supplements.
