Arjuna Bark Extract is a concentrated powder made from the bark of Terminalia arjuna, a large tree that grows along rivers across India. Arjuna is one of the best-known Ayurvedic herbs for heart wellness, and its extract is used in nutraceuticals, Ayurvedic formulations and functional products.
Arizone International manufactures and exports Arjuna Bark Extract in standardised and ratio grades for supplement brands, Ayurvedic manufacturers and private label businesses.
About Arjuna
Terminalia arjuna is an evergreen tree with smooth, grey bark that peels off in flakes. It grows in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Odisha and many other states, often beside streams. The tree is named after Arjuna, the hero of the Mahabharata. In Ayurveda, its bark has been used for centuries as a heart tonic, in preparations such as Arjuna ksheerapaka, where the bark is boiled with milk, and Arjunarishta, a fermented tonic.
How Arjuna Bark Extract Is Made
The bark is collected in strips so that the tree can regrow it, then dried and milled. The milled bark is extracted with water or water-alcohol, and the extract is concentrated and spray dried into a reddish-brown powder with an astringent taste. Compared with bark powder, the extract concentrates the tannins and triterpenoids, so smaller doses are needed.
